On our way to Traverse City last weekend, I remembered that there is a cute shopping area in the Mercato at the Grand Traverse Commons. Which, by the way, used to be a psychiatric hospital, so that’s pretty awesome. We found Red Spire Brunch House while looking around the shops. With “brunch house” in the name, I knew it was just my kind of place.
The atmosphere is colorful & artsy with succulents on each table, my favorite. Their menu is small & simple. I ordered the crab cake benedict, with a side of hash browns & fruit. Cody ordered the egg sammy…typical. I swear, he orders an egg sandwich at every brunch spot. Anyway, the crab cake benedict was delicious. The egg had just the perfect amount of runny yolk, & I basically licked every last bit of hollandaise off my plate.
I was a little disappointed with the fact that only certain meals come with sides. I love when brunch places offer the full package; eggs, toast, fruit, hash browns, etc. Having to order the sides separately caused our bill to climb pretty quickly, & we each only had one mimosa! The food tasted amazing, but I definitely prefer a brunch spot with hefty portions, & a mimosa bar. Until my next brunch adventure!
